Vision Canvas Workshop with NACE Hampton Roads: A Creative Kickoff to 2025!
The National Association of Catering and Events (NACE) Hampton Roads chapter kicked off their January 2025 meeting with a truly inspiring and hands-on experience: my Vision Canvas Coaching & Workshop! Held at the stunning Main of Williamsburg, the event brought together members from both the Hampton Roads and Richmond chapters for an unforgettable evening of clarity, creativity, and connection.
A Unique Workshop Experience
At Vivid Expressions, we pride ourselves on creating workshops that blend creativity, coaching, and community. For this event, I tailored my signature 4-hour Vision Canvas workshop and condensed it to a less than 2-hour session to fit the group’s schedule while still delivering maximum impact. Attendees were guided through two transformative steps:
Clarity Coaching: We began by diving into mindset exercises to build creative confidence, clarify personal and professional goals, and set meaningful intentions for the year ahead.
Hands-On Vision Crafting: Using 16x20 artist-grade canvases, attendees created their vision boards with a variety of materials, including magazines, craft papers, decoupage gloss, and even gems. This elevated approach gave their boards the look and feel of a true work of art.
Although we didn’t have time for the usual third step—“Next Steps” coaching to activate the vision—participants shared their creations and the goals they represented. I also offered a free downloadable PDF of my post-vision canvas worksheets, allowing attendees to continue their journey after the event.
A Creative Evening of Connection
As their canvases dried, attendees mingled and enjoyed a delicious spread by The Twisted Fork catering, a highlight of the evening. The energy in the room was palpable as participants reflected on their visions and shared their excitement for the year ahead.
One standout moment came from photographer Mike Dragon, who shared how transformative these workshops have been for him:
“It’s so much more than just gluing things to a canvas. Janel guides you through the process of deciding what’s truly important to you. I’ve created several vision boards with her, and each time, I’ve achieved the goals I set out on those boards. Visualizing the goal is the first step, and the act of creating helps solidify the foundation for the changes you want to make.”
